Athens, GA – The No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs defeated the No. 5 Ole Miss Rebels by a score of 43-35. This marks yet another second-half comeback for the Bulldogs, with their first two coming against Tennessee and Auburn. Georgia moved up to 3rd in the SEC after the win, with Ole Miss right behind in 4th.
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton threw four touchdowns on the day, along with a rushing touchdown. The Bulldogs were down 35-26 at halftime and rallied back to win. Stockdown went 12-12 passing with three touchdowns in the second half, outscoring the Rebels 17-0 in the fourth quarter. Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie recorded three touchdowns on just five catches. Georgia had no turnovers.
Ole Miss made the decision to start quarterback Trinidad Chambliss over Austin Simmons, who got hurt in week two but was cleared to play this week. Chambliss went for 263 yards passing and 1 TD, and rushed for 42 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Ole Miss wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling torched the defense for a 75-yard touchdown catch early in the 3rd quarter.
Georgia has moved up to No. 5 in the country in the new AP Poll, and Ole Miss barely dropped, moving down to No. 8. Georgia will host Florida next week, and Ole Miss will travel to Oklahoma for their third ranked game in their last four matchups.
