MIAMI, FL- The Howard Bison narrowly defeated the Florida A&M Rattlers in the Orange Blossom Classic by a score of 10-9 in their matchup on August 30th, 2025. The Bison get their revenge after they fell to the Rattlers back in 2023.
Quarterback for the Bison, Tyriq Starks, marched down the field to lead a game-winning drive. He completed 17 out of 28 passes with one touchdown and one interception. Kicker Matt Concord drilled a 43-yard field goal to give the Bison the win. CJ Neely scored the only touchdown of the ballgame, reeling in a 2-yard touchdown reception. Cam Dyson and Ja’Quavion Smith both recorded seven tackles each to keep the Rattlers out of the endzone.
Florida A&M quarterback RJ Johnson went 17 for 32 with 183 yards through the air. Linebacker Jason Riles Jr. led the Rattlers on defense with five tackles.
The Bison will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Philadelphia next week to take on the Temple Owls. Florida A&M will look to rebound against Florida Atlantic.
