39th Annual Phillies Carpenter Cup Returns to Spotlight High School Talent

On Monday, June 9, the most talented high school all-star baseball players from across the tristate area will showcase their skills in front of major league and college scouts during the highly anticipated 39th annual Phillies Carpenter Cup Classic, proudly presented by Nike. 

This prestigious 15-game tournament will run through Thursday, June 12, and will take place at the Phillies MLB Urban Youth Academy Fields located in FDR Park. The tournament culminates with the semi-finals and championship game scheduled for Monday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 17, respectively, both held at the iconic Citizens Bank Park.

“We’re excited to once again host the Phillies Carpenter Cup, recognized nationally as one of the finest baseball tournaments for high school students,” said Phillies Director of Youth Baseball and Softball Development Jon Joaquin. “This tournament has been a catalyst for many players to receive scholarships and admission to the country’s top universities.”

Admission to games at both the MLB Urban Youth Academy Fields in FDR Park and the renowned Citizens Bank Park is complimentary and open to the public, allowing fans to witness the next generation of baseball talent. The multi-site Phillies MLB Urban Youth Academy boasts state-of-the-art outdoor and indoor facilities designed to provide free, year-round instruction to over 6,000 young athletes participating in the Phillies Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program throughout Philadelphia. Among its standout features is the Ryan Howard Training Center, located at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center in South Philadelphia. This impressive 7,500-square-foot training facility is equipped with four retractable batting cages that replicate the high-quality experience found at the Phillies minor league spring training site in Clearwater, Florida. Additionally, the center provides ample space for fitness training, as well as educational and vocational programs aimed at empowering local youth.

Complementing the Ryan Howard Training Center, the academy also includes an expansive outdoor complex situated in FDR Park, featuring two well-maintained baseball fields and two softball fields designed to foster athletic development.
