The Florida Panthers traveled to Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Friday night at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. The Oilers took the opening game due to an overtime score by Leon Draisaitl in Game 1.

In the first period, the Oilers had a 3-2, after five different players scored for both teams with Sam Bennett, Evander Kane, Evan Bouchard, Seth Jones, and Draisaitl. Both Bennett’s and Draisaitl’s score were on the powerplay.

In the second period, The Panthers took the lead with goals by Dmitry Kulikov and a powerplay goal by Bard Marchand.

Corey Perry scored a game-tying goal with 17.8 seconds left in the game, and sent the game into overtime. This would be the first time the first two games of the Stanley Cup have gone into overtime since 2014, and it was the sixth time overall.

The game would go into double overtime, and Marchand scored the game winner in second overtime, and the Panthers evened the series.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 42 saves on 46 shots on goal, and made 14 saves in the overtimes. Stuart Skinner made 37 saves on 42 shots on goal.

This was the first Stanley Cup Final game to go to double overtime since Game 5 of the 2020 Stanley Cup Final between the Dallas Stars and the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Stars won the match.

The teams will travel across the continent to Sunrise, FL where they will play Game 3 on Monday at 8 pm puck drop.
