The New York Liberty acquired Natasha Cloud from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for the no. 7 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and New York’s 2026 First round pick.
Cloud had only spent a month with the Connecticut Sun after being traded from the Phoenix Mercury on Feb. 2, 2025.
She spent 2024 with the Mercury after spending her first eight years with the Washington Mystics, where she won the 2019 WNBA Chmapionship against the Sun.
In 2024, she had 11.5 PPG, 6.9 ASG, and a career-high 4.1 RPG with the Mercury in 38 games (all starts), which is the most games she has played in a season in her career. In her career, she has had averages of 8.6 points, 5.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 286 regular season contests (242 starts).
She has gotten many accolades in her career, including leading the league in assists in 2022, a two-time WNBA All-Defensive Second Team, and a 2022 WNBA All-Defensive First Team selection.
Liberty General Manager said, “We could not be more excited to welcome Natasha Cloud to the New York Liberty family.” He continues, “Tash is someone who we identified years ago as a prime fit for our team and embodies everything we look for in a player.”
The Liberty will tip-off at home on May 17 at the Barclays Center against the Las Vegas Aces.
