The New York Islanders cap off a win with a score 7- 4 against the Nashville Predators at home. Islanders center Jean-Gabriel- Pageau scores the first goal of the game he was assisted by Adam Boqvist, and Casey Cizikas in the first period. Then, Islanders strike again with another goal coming from Kyle Palmieri making it 2-0. They were not done yet with 29 seconds left in the first they cap off their dominant performance with yet another goal. This time coming from Bo Horvat, assisted by Anders Lee. The Isles lead 3-0 to end the opening period.

Second period action kicked off with Nashville getting on the board with a goal from Colton Sissons just over a minute into the period. With the Isles continuing their first period performance, Brock Nelson made it 4-1 in about a minute and a half later. Predators score right back with Marc Del Gaizo making it 4-2. Nelson gets his second goal of the game making it 5-2. Second period action ends with the islanders taking a 3-point lead.

Third period starts off with Cizikas notching a goal for himself who also assisted with a goal earlier in the game. Islanders are not looking to stop as the score is 6-2. Few minutes after the goal from Cizikas, Nashville struck back with Cole Smith scoring making it 6-3 with 14:09 left in the game. Smith doesn’t look to stop is scoring efforts as he takes on another pair of goals cutting the deficit by two points.

With Nashville looking to make a comeback with the empty net to get the extra attacker but do not prevail as Islanders Goaltender Illya Sorokin is credited with the empty net goal making it 7-4. Sorokin was credited due to Steven Stamkos missing a pass to Brady Skiej after a Sorokin save. He’s the third goaltender to score this season with Pittsburgh’s Alex Nedeljkovic and Minnesota’s Filip Gustavsson both scoring earlier in the season. He’s the second Isles goaltender to score a goal with Billy Smith doing it in 1979-80.

Isles coach and Hall of Fame goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche Patrick Roy said, according to the New York Post, “It was part of my bucket list, scoring a goal in my career,” he continued, “. “Hit the post once, I think. Scored [when] there was no more time. But anyway, I guess I was not the best goaltender out of my net. Would’ve been nice, but I didn’t have that shot.”

New York came out with the victory, and they look to keep the winning column going with another tough match up with their New York Rivals the Rangers on Sunday at Madison Square Garden with Puck drop set for 7:00pm.
