The NBA announced on Tuesday that renowned comedian and actor Kevin Hart will take on the groundbreaking role of the first-ever on-court emcee for the highly anticipated NBA All-Star Game, scheduled for Sunday, February 16, at the Chase Center in San Francisco, the home of the Golden State Warriors. The game will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET on TNT, TBS, truTV, and MAX.
Hart, who has cultivated a strong rapport with the NBA over the years and has notably won the MVP title four times in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, is poised to infuse the event with his trademark humor and infectious energy.
In this reimagined format of the All-Star Game, Hart will provide live commentary directly from the court, adding a unique perspective as the action unfolds. Hart’s extensive relationships with many of the league’s premier athletes will allow him to bring a layer of comedic insight and spontaneity to the broadcast, elevating the viewer experience. His role will include energizing fans in the arena and those watching from around the globe, alongside esteemed commentators Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Candace Parker, and Kenny Smith.
The invitation for Hart to join the festivities came directly from four-time NBA All-Star Draymond Green, a key player for the Warriors, through a creative promotional spot that firmly established his participation in the event.
As previously disclosed, the NBA All-Star Game will adopt an innovative structure featuring four teams competing in three separate games. Each match will follow a fast-paced format, with the first team to reach 40 points declared the winner. The rosters for this exciting new setup were selected in a strategic NBA All-Star Draft by Barkley, O’Neal, and Smith from the pool of All-Star players. Parker’s team will be made up of the champion from the Castrol Rising Stars competition, showcasing a mix of established stars and up-and-coming talent.
