Eagles Win Second Super Bowl in Blowout Fashion against the Chiefs, 40-22; Hurts wins Super Bowl MVP

Super Bowl LIX took place on Sunday night at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, as the Philadelphia Eagles faced the Kansas City Chiefs, in a rematch of a Super Bowl from a couple of years ago.

The Eagles dominated the entire game as they were up 34-0 until the end of the third quarter when Patrick Mahomes threw a 24 yard touchdown pass to Xavier Worthy.

In that stretch, Jalen Hurts threw for two touchdowns and ran for a score, as he’s the fifth quarterback to have multiple passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the Super Bowl.

The highlight of the game was rookie Cooper DeJean who had a big interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter. Mahomes was even more rattled when Zach Baun dived for a interception.

DeAndre Hopkins and Worthy had receiving touchdowns in the fourth quarter from Mahomes, as they were able to cut the deficit down to 40-22, but it would not be enough, as the Eagles take their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history, and stopped the Chiefs from being the first team to complete a three-peat.

Hurts took the Pete Rozelle Trophy for the Super Bowl MVP after he had 221 passing yards, 72 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and he’s the 34th quarterback to take the honor of being Super Bowl MVP.

Hurts is the first quarterback ever to have 200+ passing yards and 50+ rushing yards in multiple Super Bowls, and he’s the third QB to have a rushing and passing touchdown in multiple Super Bowls, joining John Elway and Joe Montana.

As of the time of writing, the City of Philadelphia have not announced the date and time of the championship game, but according to CBS News, it will likely be on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
