Josh Allen and the Bills Lose Again to Kansas City in AFC Championship, 32-29

By Zachary McMahon-

The Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs played another memorable matchups in the AFC Championship game on Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

The Chiefs came in after a victory over the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round, while the Bills won against Denver and Baltimore in the postseason.

Kareem Hunt started the scoring for the Chiefs with a 12-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Tyler Bass then kicked the longest postseason field goal in the history of Arrowhead Stadium as a 53-yarder.

The Bills took their first lead of the game in the second quarter with a rushing touchdown from James Cook. The Chiefs clapped back with both a passing and a rushing touchdown from Patrick Mahomes.

Josh Allen threaded the needle in a 34-yarder to Mack Hollins near the end of the first half, then Cook helped the Bills take the lead 22-21 with a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Mahomes on a road option scampered on a 10-yard rushing touchdowns and then passed to Justin Watson for the two-point conversion to make a one-possession game by the score of 29-22.

Allen tied the game again with a pass to Curtis Samuel at the back of the end zone on a toe tap. However, the Chiefs had another shot at making it to another super bowl and Mahomes could not be stopped, where he had four straight completions before Harrison Butker’s go-ahead field goal with 3:33 left in the game.

Allen, having the chance at a comeback to finally beat Mahomes in the playoffs, he started by running for a first down. Then after the play, the Chiefs batted down the ball on two straight plays. Allen hit Amari Cooper for a short gain, which created 4th and 5, where the Chiefs blitzed Allen in order to heave it to Dalton Kincaid who dropped it to seal the victory and another Super Bowl appearance for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs will have a rematch from a couple of years ago against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in two weeks on Feb. 9 on FOX.
