Alyssa Thomas has now been acquired by the Phoenix Mercury with the move unable to be made official until February 1st.
Thomas was cored this offseason meaning she although a unrestricted free agent could only leave in a trade. Now being traded Thomas for the first time in her career will bring a WNBA uniform that isn’t a Connecticut Sun one.
The 2024 Olympian leaves Connecitut after 11 seasons with the team including five all-star appearances, six all-defensive teams, and three all-wnba teams.
The Engine was the Connecticut Sun’s All-Time leader in games played, rebounds, assists, steals. Thomas was second in points scored as well.
The WNBA All-Time leader in Triple-Doubles is now on the move and leaves Connecticut’s future in uncertainty.
