The Pitt Panthers hosted the Syracuse Orange at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday night. Pitt came into the game as the 19th ranked team in the country.
Their defense came our fast and often as picked off a Kyle McCord pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead with 12:47 remaining in the opening quarter. That would be one of three first-quarter interceptions thrown by McCord. Two of those were returned for touchdowns, and Pitt led 31-0 at halftime.
Syracuse scored the lone score of the third quarter to close it to a 31-6 game, but the three first half pick-sixes were enough for Pitt to blow them out by a score of 41-13.
The Panthers will head to Texas to take on SMU next Saturday, Nov. 2 while Syracuse will host Virginia Tech.
