Florida International University hosted Sam Houston State at Pitbull Stadium in Miami, FL on Tuesday night. FIU was coming off a 30-21 loss on the road against UTEP last Wednesday. This was the third consecutive week the Panthers played in the middle of the week.
After a scoreless first half, Sam Houston scored the first points of the game in the third quarter as DJ McKinney ran the ball into the end zone from one yard out. FIU would tie the game five seconds into the fourth quarter as Chayden Peery found Eric Rivers for a 21-yard score.
A 20-yard field goal from Christian Pavon with 1:57 left ultimately gave Sam Houston 10-7 win. FIU will play another Tuesday game next week as they host New Mexico State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
