The New York Giants hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7 action at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles are coming off a victory over the Cleveland Browns 20-16 in Week 6, while the Giants lost to the Cincinnati Bengals 17-7 on Sunday.
Saquon Barkley returns to MetLife Stadium, after signing a contract with the Eagles in the offseason after spending his first five seasons with the Giants. Barkley had 176 rushing yards, which was the second most rushing yards in a game in his career, in 2019 against Washington where he had 189 rushing yards for the Giants.
Both the Giants and Eagles split the season series last season, and the Giants won the game at Metlife in Week 18.
In the second quarter, Barkley had a 55-yard run that set up a 3-yard touchdown run later in the drive, and then A.J. Brown had a 41-yard touchdown reception from Jalen Hurts as they were leading 14-0 late in the first half.
With five seconds left in the half, Greg Joseph kicked a 38-yard field goal to put the Giants on the board at halftime, 14-3.
In the second half, Barkley had runs of 41 and 38 yards that set up tush push touchdowns from Hurts in two different drives. The Giants were not afforded any chances as the Eagles forced them to punt on their three final drives in the fourth quarter as Daniel Jones was benched for backup Drew Lock, as he only went 3-for-8 for six passing yards.
Jones got sacked seven times, while only throwing for 99 yards through three quarters in the loss, while Hurts only threw for 114 yards, while Barkley was carrying the game.
Eagles RG Mekhi Becton sustained a concussion in the first half and was replaced by Tyler Steen.
Next Sunday, the Eagles will be visiting the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium, in Cincinnati, OH at 1 pm on CBS. The Giants will travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers on Monday night football on ESPN.
