Tyrese Maxey, the talented player from the Philadelphia 76ers, has been honored with the prestigious NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award for his outstanding contributions during the offseason. This accolade recognizes Maxey’s exceptional dedication to supporting the youth in both Philadelphia and his hometown of Dallas through the Tyrese Maxey Foundation.

As a token of recognition, Maxey will be presented with the esteemed Bob Lanier trophy, and the NBA will generously donate $10,000 to the Tyrese Maxey Foundation in acknowledgment of his impactful community work.

During the summer, Maxey and his foundation organized the inaugural Tyrese Maxey Foundation Friends and Family Weekend in Philadelphia. This event included the 1% Better Skills Camp, a free basketball camp tailored for youths aged 7-12. The camp featured valuable skills training, exciting giveaways, and a special opportunity for the participants to enjoy lunch with Maxey and the camp’s coaches.

Maxey further extended his efforts by hosting another family-focused basketball camp in Dallas the following weekend, which also included a complimentary golf clinic for the local youth. In total, Maxey’s events catered to over 700 enthusiastic young participants.

Notably, during the Friends and Family Weekend, Maxey announced the establishment of two scholarships: one for a college student and another for a valued community partner. These scholarships embody the event’s core mission of providing essential support to students pursuing their academic aspirations. Additionally, Maxey pledged a remarkable $1 million donation to youth organizations based in Philadelphia, underscoring his profound commitment to giving back to the city where he has played since entering the NBA in 2020.

This isn’t the first time that Maxey’s outstanding community work has been recognized. In 2022, he was previously honored as the November winner of the Community Assist Award for his unwavering dedication to strengthening families and communities, as well as his exceptional support for youth development.

Maxey’s exceptional contributions and commitment to community service will be celebrated as he is officially recognized as the NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award winner during the season-opening game between the Bucks and the 76ers on October 23.
