Eagles Hold on Against Cleveland, 20-16

By Zachary McMahon-

The Philadelphia Eagles hosted DeShaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon in Week 6 action. The Eagles lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday and the Browns lost the last three games.

Both DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown returned after missing games with injuries, and they both cannot miss any significant time if they want a deep postseason run.

Browns center Ethan Pocic was out with a knee injury,  so Nick Harris was carted off the field in the opening drive with an ankle injury, and third-stringer Michael Dunn replaced Harris. Grant Delpit (concussion) and Ronnie Hickman (ankle) were both out for the Browns.

The Eagles jumped out to a 10-0 lead after Jalen Hurts threw a touchdown pass to A.J. Brown for 22 yards in the second quarter. However, the first half ended with the game tied at 10 after a blocked field goal by Myles Garrett resulted in a 50-yard touchdown return by Browns safety Rodney McLeod Jr.

Jake Elliott and Jake Hopkins traded field goals before a 45-yard touchdown reception by Smith in the fourth quarter that gave the Eagles a 20-13 lead.

Hopkins brought the deficit to four points with a 31-yard field goal that made it 20-16, but the Eagles were able to close out the game in the final drive as the Eagles won 20-16.

Jalen Hurts went 16/25 with 264 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, while Watson went 16/23 with 168 yard while the Browns failed to score any offensive touchdowns. Brown had six receptions with 116 yards with a touchdown in his return.

Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert suffered a hamstring injury in the game, Darius Slay left with a knee injury, and Jordan Mailata also left with a hamstring in the fourth quarter. Browns running back Jerome Ford left the game with a hamstring injury.

The Eagles will go to New Jersey to face the New York Giants next Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey at 1 pm on FOX. The Browns will face their in-state rival Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday at 1 pm on CBS, check your local listings.
