The New York Yankees hosted the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 of the 2024 ALCS at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on Monday night. The Yankees were looking to get back to the World Series for the first time since they won it all in 2009.

They would score first in the bottom of the third as Juan Soto hit a home run to center field to make the score 1-0. Two wild pitches allowed Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton to score, extending the lead to 3-0 in the third.

They would extend their lead to 4-0 in the fourth as Judge hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Gleyber Torres to score. Cleveland would score their first run in the top of the sixth as Rocchio homered to left field to make it a 4-1 game.

Each team would score one more run each, but it was the Yankees who took Game 1 by the final score of 5-2. Game 2 will be played on Tuesday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:38 p.m. ET.
