The James Madison Dukes hosted the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Thursday night at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, VA. Both teams entered the matchup 4-1, as James Madison is coming off a loss against UL Monroe 21-19 on Saturday, and JMU won against Old Dominion 45-37 on Saturday.
JMU quarterback Alonza Barnett III started off with a nine-yard touchdown pass to George Pettaway, and then the Chanticleers scored their only points of the game as a 40-yard touchdown pass fromEthan Vasko to Jameson Tucker, which tied the game at 7 at the end of the first quarter.
Barnett II had another two touchdown passes with a rushing touchdown and Lloyd Summerall III had a 35-yard interception return touchdown from Vasko, as JMI delivered another victory against Eastern Carolina 39-7.
Barnett II went 16/28 with 199 passing yards with three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, and former North Carolina Tar Heel Pettaway, had a career high of 89 rushing yards with a receiving touchdown.
Next Saturday, JMU will go down to Statesboro, GA to face off against Georgia Southern at a 4:00 pm kickoff on ESPN+. Also on Saturday, Coastal Carolina will return to South Carolina to face the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns at 12:00 pm on ESPNU.
