By Zachary McMahon-

The New York Mets hosted the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 of the NLDS at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y on Tuesday. The Phillies hosted the first two games, which were split after Nick Castellano walked off in Game 2.

Sean Manaea pitched seven innings for the Mets, allowing three hits, one earned run, and two walks with six strikeouts. Aaron Nola pitched five innings, allowing five hits, four earned runs, two walks, and eight strikeouts.

Both Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker hit solo homers in the second and fourth innings respectively for the Mets as they went to a 2-0 lead.

Starling Marte and Jose Iglesias hit two-run singles in the sixth and seventh innings as the Mets had a 6-0 shutout at the end of the seventh inning. Iglesias entered the at-bat with the bases loaded after back-to-back walks to Brandon Nimmo and Alonso.

Bryce Harper broke the shutout with a RBI single, and Castellanos followed with another run in the eighth, as the Phillies cut the deficit to 6-2.

Francisco Lindor added an RBI double as the Mets won Game 3 7-2, and now one game away from advancing to the NLDS against the San Diego Padres or the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Mananea got his first career postseason victory as he entered the game 0-3 in preseason matchups.

In the sixth inning, the Phillies started off with walks to Kyle Schwarber and Trey Turner, but after a strikeout to Harper. Castellanos flew out and then Schwarber was doubled off second base, which contributed to their low run count.

They will return to Citi Field tomorrow at 5:08 pm as the Mets look to eliminate the Phillies, who for the last two years have been in the World Series and Game 7 of the NLCS. Ranger Suarez will face Jose Quintana on the mound.
