The New York Liberty will take on the Minnesota Lynx in the 2024 WNBA Finals with Game 1 being played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday night. New York is back in the Finals after losing in 2023 to the Las Vegas Aces.
The Liberty knocked off the Aces three games to one in the semifinals, ending the chances of them finishing what would’ve been a three-peat. Sabrina Ionescu, who’s led the Liberty all season long, led them to a Game 4 victory over Las Vegas with 22 points, which included shooting 7 of 14 from three.
The Lynx, who finished with the league’s second-best record behind New York, needed the full five-game series to eliminate the Connecticut Sun in their semifinal matchup. Napeesha Collier led the Lynx with 27 points and 11 rebounds in their 88-77 Game 5 victory.
The Liberty and Lynx met four times during the regular season, with Minnesota coming out on top in three of those meetings, including the first two. New York will now look to avenge those three regular season losses, as well as coming up short in the 2023 WNBA Finals, and win their first championship in franchise history..
Game 1 will be played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday night. Tip-off is scheme for 8 p.m. ET.
