The New York Liberty took on the Las Vegas Aces at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, NV on Sunday afternoon. The Liberty were once again looking to clinch a spot in the 2024 WNBA Finals after failing to do so in Game 3.
After falling behind 3-0 early, New York went on a 10-0 run before the Aces closed it back to a 10-7 game. The Liberty would pull away again, leading 16-9 after a Sabrina Ionescu three-pointer. The Aces pulled closer once more, however, and the score at the end of the first quarter was 23-19 in favor of the Liberty.
The two teams went back and forth through the first half of the second quarter, but the Liberty would pull away again, taking a 37-27 lead after Breanna Stewart hit the second of two free theiw shots with 5:15 left in the first half. Vegas would go on another run and the Liberty’s lead was just three at halftime with the score 41-38.
Las Vegas would never be able to take a lead, despite it being just a two-point game after three quarters, and the Liberty used a strong fourth quarter to pull away en route to a 76-62 victory to win the series three games to one.
New York will now await the winner of the series between the Connecticut Sun and Minnesota Lynx. Game 1 of the 2024 WNBA Finals will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday night, Oct. 10.
