Buffalo Bills Fall Short to Houston Texans 23-20

The Buffalo Bills were in Houston, TX to take on the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The bit storyline from this game was Texans wide receiver Steffon Diggs playing against his former team. Buffalo was coming off a 35-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.

The Bills got on the board first with a 38-yard field goal with 6:27 left in the first quarter. Houston scored the first touchdown, taking the lead as Cam Akers took the ball into the end zone from 15 yards out.

The Texans would expand on that lead as CJ Stroud threw a 67-yard pass down the field to a wide open Nico Collins for a touchdown on a one-play drive with 1:34 left in the first. 14-3 would be the score at the end of the quarter.

The lone score of the second quarter came as time expired as Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn knocked a 50-yard field goal through the uprights. Houston led 17-3 at halftime.

After the Texans kicked another field goal to start the second half to go up 20-3, the Bills scored their first touchdown of the afternoon as James Cook scored from five yards out. The lead was then cut to 20-10 with 8:48 left in the third.

On a 4th and 5 on their next drive, Josh Allen would fine Keon Coleman on a pass that he took 49 yards to the end zone for a touchdown. The Bills now trailed 20-17 with 4:20 still remaining in the third quarter.

With 3:18 in the fourth, Tyler Bass would knock a field goal through to tie the game at 20. In the end, Fairbairn would kick a 59-yard field goal as time expired to give the Texans a 23-20 win.

Buffalo, now on a two-game losing streak, will look to get back to their wining ways as they head back on the road to take on the Jets next Monday night. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
