New Jersey Devils Sweep Global Series With Victory against Sabres in Prague, 3-1

The New Jersey Devils played the Buffalo Sabres in the second game of the the 2024 NHL Global Series at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic. The Devils won 4-1 in the first game on Friday after a 30 save performance from Devils goalie Jacob Markstrom. 

The Devils went with Jake Allen who had 17 saves on 18 shots while the Sabres put in Devon Levi who started the year strong with 34 saves. 

Tage Thompson delivered the first and what would be the only goal of the game for the team in the second period, as they had the lead. Seamus Casey scored his first professional goal for the equalizer for the Devils earlier in the quarter as a power play goal. Casey was drafted 46th overall in 2022 and has spent the last two seasons with the Michigan Wolverines. 

The Devils ran away with the game in the third period as Timo Meier and Paul Cotter both scored for the Devils as they swept the Sabres in the Global Series, with a 3-1 victory in the Czech Republic. 

The Devils will host the Toronto Maple Leafs for the home opener on October 10, while the Sabres will host the Los Angeles Kings the same day for their home opener. 

The Global Series will continue on November 1 & 2 when the Florida Panthers face the Dallas Stars at the Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland for a two-game series.
