The Philadelphia Phillies hosted the New York Mets in Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday afternoon at Citizens Bank Stadium in Philadelphia. The Mets go to Philly after winning Game 3 in the Wild Card against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Zach Wheeler went seven innings, allowing just one hit, allowing four walks and nine strikeouts, while Kodai Senga just went two innings for the Mets, as they used their bullpen for the majority of the game.
Kyle Schwarber led off on the third pitch from Senga, as he’s been doing all season for the Phillies and Philly had an early 1-0 lead. That was his fifth playoff lead-off homer, which is a MLB Record.
However, the Mets rallied in the eighth scoring five runs as Mark Vientos. Brandon Nimmo, and J.D. Martinez , who was pinch hitting for Jesse Winker, who walked twice.
Kody Clemens brought in the final run for the Phillies on an RBI double, as they could not get any more as the Mets won 6-2. The Mets will have Luis Severino and the Phillies will have Christopher Sanchez go for Game 2 on Sunday at 4:08 pm first pitch.
