The New York Liberty hosted the Las Vegas Aces at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Tuesday night. The Liberty were looking to take a 2-0 series after an 87-77 win in Game 1 on Sunday.
In a game that started closely contested, the Aces began pulling away at the end of the first quarter as a Chelsea Gray basket made the score 27-19 with 1:07 remaining in the quarter. The Liberty would close the gap to 27-22 by the end of the quarter.
New York would take their first lead since they led 12-10 with 5:19 left in the first as Kayla Thorton made a layup to give them a 30-29 lead with 6:54 left in the half. The two teams went back and forth throughout the remainder of the second quarter before the Liberty finished on a 6-0 run in the final 1:18 and took a 46-40 lead into the locker room.
They continued extending their lead in the third, and despite the Aces attempting to keep it close, the Liberty would pull away with an 88-84 victory. They are now just one win away from their second consecutive WNBA Finals.
Game 3 will be played Friday night at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. Tip-off time has yet to be determined.
