The Carolina Panthers hosted the Cincinnati Bengals at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC on Sunday. The Panthers earned their first win of the season last week against the Las Vegas Raiders as quarterback Andy Dalton, who took over for former #1 overall pick Bryce Young, threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns.
Cincinnati scored the game’s first touchdown with just five seconds left in the first quarter as Chase Brown scored from three yards out. Carolina would tie the game in the second as Chubba Hubbard score his own three-yard touchdown, tying the game at seven with 9:31 remaining in the first half.
Just over two minutes later, the Bengals would re-take the lead as Joe Burrow found his top reciever in Jamaar Chase for a 63-yard score. The Panthers would tie it at 14 as Dalton found Xavier Leggette for an eight-yard score with 1:09 left in the half. The Bengals re-took the lead for the third time with just one second left as Burrow threw a one-yard touchdown to running back Zach Moss. They held a 21-14 lead at halftime.
Cincinnati would then break the game open, scoring the first 10 points of the second half to take a 31-14 lead. Carolina would close the gap to 31-21 as Dalton threw his second touchdown of the afternoon, a 21-yarder to Dionte Johnson, and the Panthers trailed by 10 after three quarters.
Carolina kicker Eddie Pineiro would kick a 48-yard field goal to make it a 31-24 game with 7:42 left, and the Bengals would put it away with 1:14 left with a 46-yard field goal to make the score 34-24. That would prove to be the final score of the game.
The Panthers will head back on the road next Sunday to take on the Chicago Bears. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
