The New York Liberty hosted the Atlanta Dream in Game 2 of the first round of the 2024 WNBA playoffs at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Tuesday night. The league’s top-seeded team would advance to the second round with a win.
Atlanta got off to a dominant start to this game, going on an 11-0 run after Sabrina Ionescu knocked down the game’s first successful shot, a three pointer. leading 28-19 after the first quarter.
New York would take over the rest of the way, however, outscoring the Dream each of the next three quarters en route to a 91-82 victory to win the series 2-0.
Ionescu, who shot just 5 of 11 from the floor in Game 1, bounced back in a big way in Game 2 to lead the Liberty. She scored 36 points on 12 of 23 shooting and a perfect 7 for 7 from the free throw line. Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart each scored in double figures, as well, as Jones scored 20 and Stewart added 13.
The Liberty will meet the Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals as both teams will look to advance to their second consecutive WNBA Finals. Game 1 will be played Sunday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Tip-off is yet to be determined.
