Bucs Lose in Nix’s First NFL Win against the Broncos, 26-7

By Zachary McMahon-

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted the Denver Broncos in Week 3 on Sunday, as they faced first round QB Bo Nix at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.

The Bucs won the first two matchups while the Broncos lost their first two matchups, but those two things changed as things flipped between the two teams.

The Broncos blew the gates open with two goal line rushing touchdowns in the first quarter by Jaleel McLaughlin and Nix.

Will Lutz went 4/4 in field goal attempts for the Broncos, as that was how they scored the rest of the game, while the Bucs were held to seven points, which was a passing touchdown from Baker Mayfield to Chris Godwin in the second. Rookie Running back Bucky Irving set it up with runs of 34 and 13.

The Bucs would go on to lose their first game of the season and give Nix his first win as a starter in the NFL. The Bucs are now 11-6 against rookie QBs since Todd Bowles came in as the defensive coordinator in 2019 under head coach Bruce Arians.

The Bucs will host the Eagles in the rematch of the NFC Wild Card matchup from last season when they face each other on Sunday, while the Broncos will stay on the road when they face the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, Tiffany Williams will have coverage of that game.
