On Sunday, the Connecticut Sun kicked off the 2024 postseason with a 93-69 win in game one of round one against the Fever at Mohegan Sun Arena. Marina Mabrey helped lead the Sun to their victory over Indiana with 27 points, one offensive rebound, two defensive rebounds, and three assists.
Postgame Mabrey said, “Whether I come off the bench or I start, I’ll still be the same player. So, whatever the team needs for us to get a championship is what I was going to do. You know, just being ready whenever they need me.”

Mabrey’s 27 points mark a new WNBA postseason record for most points by a single player coming off the bench. She also scored 20 of her 27 points in the second half of action.
DeWanna Bonner pulled up and showed out adding 22 points, one offensive rebound, five defensive rebounds, five assists, and two blocks. Today marked Bonner’s 81st WNBA postseason game, which ties Rebecca Brunson for second all-time in league history. Bonner also moved into third all-time in field goals made in WNBA postseason history, passing Maya Moore. She now has 383 made field goals in her playoff career.
Alyssa Thomas shined today, recording her fourth postseason triple-double and 15th of her career. She finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists. Her triple-double also marks her second triple-double of the season against the Indiana Fever, previously notching one in the Sun’s season opener on May 14.
Postgame Thomas said, “Yeah, we did what we’re supposed to do. You know, I mean, I can speak for myself. I’ve been waiting all season for playoffs. I mean, this is what you’re playing for. And, yeah, this is just the beginning for us. Game one and we’re ready to go. Just exciting to see what we brought to the table tonight for my teammates. And, you know, we’re all hungry. We’re ready and ready for game two.”
