2024 WNBA First-Round Series Preview: New York Liberty vs Atlanta Dream

By Stephen Ur

The New York Liberty will host the Atlanta Dream in the 1 vs 8 matchup of the 2024 WNBA postseason. This series will be a best-of-five with the first two games being played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

The Liberty, led by stars Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart, clinched the best record in the league, finishing with a 32-8 regular season record. The second best record belonged to the Minnesota Lynx, who finished at 30-9, 1.5 games behind New York.

It was a different story for the Dream, who clinched the eight seed on the last night of the regular season as the Chicago Sky fell to the Connecticut Sun. Ironically, the Dream also ended their regular season with a 78-67 win over the Liberty.

Thursday’s meeting between the Dream and Liberty was the fourth time the two teams had met this season. New York had won all three prior meetings by an average of just under 15 points per game.

Game 1 of the opening series for both teams will be played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
