33-year-old Tyler Murray, a seasoned professional in the world of sports broadcasting, will be taking on the role of the new voice of the New York Knicks on ESPN New York Radio, as announced by MSG Networks on Thursday.
Murray hails from Connecticut and spent his formative years in Massachusetts. He is a distinguished alumnus of Boston University, having graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2011. Murray began his professional broadcasting career with the Advanced-A Daytona Cubs before making a name for himself with the Worcester Red Sox broadcast team on NESN.
Having honed his skills across various sports, Murray’s broadcasting repertoire includes college basketball, football, and hockey. He has collaborated with esteemed institutions such as UMass, Boston University, and Dartmouth College. Notably, Murray has also showcased his talent while working with WEEI on Boston Red Sox games during the Spring/Summer of 2024.
In his latest endeavor, Murray steps into the shoes of Ed Cohen as the regular play-by-play announcer for the Knicks, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the role. Joining him for her second season as the lead analyst for Knicks broadcasts on ESPN New York is Monica McNutt. It’s worth noting that ESPN New York recently underwent a frequency shift from 98.7 FM to 880 AM.
