The New York Giants hosted the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on Sunday afternoon. The Giants were commemorating 100 years of football.
After Graham Gano kicked a 23-yard field goal to give the Giants a 3-0 lead, the Vikings scored the first touchdown as Aaron Jones took it into the end zone from three yards out.
They would extend their lead to 14-3 as Sam Darnold and Justin Jefferson connected for Minnesota’s second three-yard score.
Darnold’s second touchdown pass came in the third quarter as he connected with Jalen Nailor for a 21-yard score, extending Minnesota’s lead to 21-3.
Down 21-6 in the third, a Daniel Jones pass was intercepted by Andrew Van Winkel and returned 10 yards for a touchdown to make it a 28-6 game.
That would be the final score as the Giants open their 100th season with a 22-point loss. They will be on the road next Sunday to face off against their NFC East division rival in the Washington Commanders. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
