The Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars faced off in a battle of two Florida teams at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL on Sunday afternoon. Miami had a team filled with players who had gotten contract extensions over the offseason, including quarterback Tua Taugovailoa and wide receivers Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill.

Jacksonville scored the lone score of the first quarter as Travis Etienne scored from one yard out. Trevor Lawrence found rookie Brian Thomas Jr midway through the second quarter to extend the lead to 14-0.

De’Von Achane scored Miami’s first touchdown of the season from one yard out before Cam Little kicked a 53-yard field goal as time expired to give the Jaguars a 17-7 lead at halftime.

The Dolphins would score their second touchdown in the third quarter as Taugovailoa threw his first touchdown of the season, an 80-yard pass to Hill, to close the gap to 17-14.

In the end, with the game tied at 17, James Sanders kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired for the opening win. The Dolphins will host the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.
