The Carolina Panthers were in New Orleans to take on their NFC South rival in the Saints at the Ceasers Superdome, home of Super Bowl LIX, in New Orleans, LA on Sunday. It was the beginning of Year 2 for former #1 overall pick, quarterback Bryce Young.
After the Saints got off to a 7-0 lead, Young’s first pass of the season, a deep pass intended for Adam Thielen, was intercepted by Will Harris. The Saints would add a field goal and take a 10-0 lead. They would extend on their lead as Derek Carr found Rashid Shaheed for a 59-yard score.
Two field goals from Blake Grupe, one from 52 yards and one from 44 yards, to extend the Saints’ lead to 23-0. Carr would throw his third touchdown of the half, a 16-yard pass to Juwan Johnson, to make the halftime score 30-0.
Carolina would add a field goal at the end of the half and trailed 30-3 at the end of the second quarter.
The Panthers would score a touchdown in the second half, but it was far too little, far too late as they fell 47-10.
Carolina will host the Los Angeles Chargers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC next Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
