In the Navy Football season opener on Saturday, the Midshipmen secured a 49-21 victory against Bucknell at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland
Senior fullback Daba Fofana made a spectacular 49-yard touchdown run on the Mids’ second drive, setting the pace for the rest of the game.
Navy offense put on an impressive performance, amassing 265 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns, and adding 173 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Fofana emerged as a standout, leading the rushing attack with 82 yards and a touchdown on just 8 carries.
Quarterback Horvath completed 7 of his 12 pass attempts, racking up 108 yards and securing 2 touchdowns. Heidenreich was a key target, making 4 catches for 74 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns.
On the defensive front, junior striker Jaxson Campbell, with just 1 career tackle before this game, and senior linebacker Colin Ramos shone, each recording 10 tackles. Pirris also made notable contributions with 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for a loss.
Looking ahead, Navy aims to extend their winning streak to 2-0 when they face Temple (0-1) next Saturday at 3:30 PM at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
