On Wednesday night, at the Gateway Center in College Park, Georgia, the Atlanta Dream emerged victorious with a final score of 72-63, securing their third consecutive win against the Phoenix Mercury. This result leveled the four-game season series at 1-1, showcasing the competitive nature of the matchup.

Allisha Gray put on an outstanding display, contributing 21 points, shooting 6-14 from the field, 3-8 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. In addition to her scoring prowess, she showcased her playmaking ability by recording two assists and securing three rebounds while playing for a total of 33 impactful minutes.

Rhyne Howard also demonstrated her scoring ability, finishing the game with 19 points, while the experienced Tina Charles added 12 points to her tally becoming the No. 2 leading scorer of all time in WNBA history. This feat was accomplished by surpassing Hall of Famer Tina Thompson, thanks to a crucial three-pointer she made in the fourth quarter.

Charles has an impressive basketball pedigree, as she was a two-time NCAA champion with the UConn Huskies before being selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Connecticut Sun in the 2010 WNBA Draft. She went on to win Rookie of the Year and, two years later, was named the 2012 MVP. This eight-time All-Star also earned a spot in the NYC Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this year.
