The Marlins faced the Diamondbacks in their 11th homestand of the season and unfortunately lost the final game of the three-game series, with a score of 10-8, resulting in a series sweep by the Diamondbacks. Roddery Muñoz made his 16th start of the season, pitching for the Marlins and his first career start against the Diamondbacks. Muñoz pitched 3.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on five hits, while walking three and striking out three. The Marlins’ Jake Burger hit his 25th homer of the season in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Connor Norby and Cristian Pache contributed to the Marlins’ score, and Otto Lopez hit his first Major League home run since July 7, 2023. Xavier Edwards also added to the Marlins’ score by hitting his second triple of the season. David Hensley scored twice, once in the bottom of the fourth and again in the bottom of the eighth. In the bottom of the ninth, a wild pitch by Justin Martinez allowed Jesús Sánchez to score, bringing the Marlins’ total runs to 8.
The Nationals secured a 6-1 victory against the Rockies in their three-game homestand. Mitchell Parker faced the Rockies, pitching for seven innings, throwing 83 pitches with 61 strikes, allowing one run on five hits, and striking out six. James Wood went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, and Luis Garcia contributed with a three-run home run in the third inning. Alex Call also scored for the Nationals.
The Yankees claimed an 8-1 victory against the Guardians in the second game of a three-game homestand. Juan Soto played a crucial role in the Yankees’ win, going 2-for-3 with two runs, a double, a homer, and five RBI. In the bottom of the first, Soto hit his 36th homer of the season, followed by a go-ahead two-run shot. In the bottom of the fourth, he hit a bases-clearing double. Aaron Judge also contributed with a 2-for-3 performance, scoring two runs, hitting two home runs, and three RBI.
The Phillies secured a 3-2 victory against the Braves to tie the series 1-1. Max Fried pitched for the Braves, going seven innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four. Aaron Nola pitched for the Phillies, going 5.1 and allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out five. Orlando Arcia started the scoring with a two-run home run for Atlanta, and the Phillies earned their runs through Edmundo Sosa, Johan Rojas, and Weston Wilson.
The Rays wrapped up their three-game series against the Oakland Athletics with a 4-2 win, owning the series 2-1. Ryan Pepiot pitched for the Rays, going six innings and allowing two runs on three hits while striking out five. The Rays’ Jose Caballero and Jonny DeLuca scored in the fifth inning, and Lawrence Butler added the Rays’ third run in the sixth inning.
