Baltimore Orioles Beat Blue Jays 6-2

After splitting a doubleheader on Monday with the Blue Jays, the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday at the Yard beat the Blue Jays 6-2, to own two out of three in the four-game set, and improved 5-4 against Toronto so far this season. 

Gunnar Henderson scored first for the Orioles in the bottom of the first after Anthony Santander hit his 17th double of the season.

Bottom of the third, Ramón Urías connected with a 91 mph cutter from Chris Bassitt and hit his fifth homer of the season to end his 20-game home run drought and extended the Orioles lead to 0-2. 

Also in the bottom of the third, with Adley Rutschman third and Gunnar Henderson on second, Ryan O’Hearn connected with the second pitch from Chris Bassitt, a 93.9 mph four-seam fastball and hit a single to help Rutschman and Henderson make it over the plate and extended the Orioles lead to 0-4. 

Blue Jays grabbed their first run of the game with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scoring in the top of the fourth to make it a 1-4 ballgame. 

Cedric Mullins scored in the bottom of the fourth to extend the Orioles lead to 1-5. 

Anthony Santander, in the bottom of the fifth, connected with a 93.9 mph cutter from Brendon Little and hit his 31st homer of the season, extending the Orioles lead to 1-6. Santander’s 31 homers rank second in the AL and tied for third in MLB. 

The Blue Jays earned their second run of the game with Steward Berroa scoring in the top of the seventh to make it a 2-6 ballgame. 

Wednesday afternoon, the Orioles will wrap up this four-game set with the Blue Jays and attempt to go for their 22nd series win of the season.
