Red Sox Minor League Affiliate Action: 7/26

Triple-A Worcester: The WooSox lost to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders on Thursday night 7-2. Grant Gambrell threw six solid innings for the WooSox only allowing two hits and striking out four. However, the Railriders went off for seven runs in the seventh inning, after the WooSox were up 2-0, after a home run by Bobby Dalbec and a RBI single by Eddy Alvarez. The Sox could not answer as the 7-2 stayed the same until the end of the game.. 

Double-A Portland: The Portland Sea Dogs played the Somerset Patriots at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater Township, NJ on Thursday. The Patriots started with a bang when Alexander Vargas hit a grand slam to open the gates open to a 4-0 lead. The Sea Dogs tied it back up at four after a two-run single by Romany Anthony, a bases loaded walk by Kristian Campbell, and a single by Kyle Teel. After Ralael Flores hit a home run for the Patriots in the eighth, the Sea Dogs took the lead at the top of the ninth, when Nick Decker hit a two-run homer, and Anthony took the lead with a RBI single. The Sea Dogs held on in the final frame as they win 7-6. 

High-A Greenville: The Greenville Drive swept a doubleheader against the Hickory Crawdads, as the nightcap went into extra innings as they battled, each scoring a run in the tenth and Bryan Gonzalez hitting a two-run home run for the Drive. The Crawdads tried to answer back with a RBI single by Quincy Scott, but the Drive won in extras, 7-6. The Drive won Game 1 5-4 over the Crawdads. 


Single-A Salem: The Salem Red Sox shutout the Carolina Mudcats, 3-0 as Juan Viera threw four no-hit innings as the starter for the Red Sox. Albert Feliz and Stanley Tucker both homered for the Drive. Danny Kirwin picked up the win in relief while Francis Hernandez got his second save of the season for Salem.
