The New York Yankees and New York Mets met in the Subway Series at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on Tuesday night. The Yankees were an MLB-worst 10-22 since June 15 while the Mets were 20-11 since then coming into this game.
The Yankees scored the first run in the bottom of the second inning as Gleyber Torres homered to right center field. The Mets tied the game in the top of the fifth after Francisco Lindor was hit by a pitch, allowing Jeff McNeil to score.
McNeil would knock a two-run homer into center field in the sixth to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.
The Yankees would cut it to 3-2, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Mets closed it out for the win. The two teams will meet again tonight with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
