On Tuesday night, the Miami Marlins played the first game of a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles as part of their seven-game homestand. The Marlins secured a 6-3 victory, improving their all-time record against the Orioles to 29-13. This win marked their first victory over the Orioles since July 27, 2021.
The game started with the Orioles taking an early lead, scoring a run in the top of the first inning with Adley Rutschman crossing home plate. However, the Marlins quickly responded in the bottom of the second inning. Jesús Sánchez hit his 12th home run of the season, tying the game at 1-1. Otto Lopez then made it over the plate to put Miami on top 1-2, and then Jazz Chisholm Jr. Zhit his 13th double and Xavier Edwards Nick Gordon both scored putting Miami on top 1-4.
The Orioles fought back, scoring two runs in the top of the third inning, closing the gap to 4-3. However, the Marlins extended their lead in the bottom of the third, with Josh Bell and Jesús Sánchez both crossing home plate, bringing the score to 6-3 in favor of Miami.
Before the game, the Marlins made a roster move, designating RHP Yonny Chirinos for assignment and recalling RHP Kyle Tyler from Triple-A Jacksonville. Tyler, making his fourth career Major League start, delivered a solid performance, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing three runs, and striking out five.
Overall, the Marlins secured a well-deserved win, showcasing their depth and resilience in both their batting and pitching performances.
