Norfolk Tides Tuesday suffered their biggest loss of the season falling to the Worcester Red Sox 4-20 on the road at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Justin Armbruester started for Norfolk going four innings, throwing 87 pitches and 52 were strikes. Armbruester gave up five hits, six runs, and walked three. He struck out Eddy Alvarez in the bottom of the first with a 92.8 mph four-seam, and also struck out Mark Contreras in the bottom of the second with 94.1 mph four-seam. In the bottom of the fourth he struck out Tyler Heineman with a 75.6 mph curveball, and then struck out Enmanuel Valdez with a 92.1 mph four-seam.
Nolan Hoffman also made an appearance at the bump throwing 32 pitches and 21 were pitches. Hoffman gave up four hits, three runs, and walked one. He struck out Nathan Hickey in the bottom of the fifth with a 77.5 mph curveball.
Heston Kjerstad unsealed the game for Norfolk at tge top of the first with his sixth double of the season to help Connor Norby score, and put Norfolk out front 1-0.
Norfolk grabbed their second run of the game at the top of the second with Daniel Johnson.
Top of the sixth Nick Maton connected with a 94 mph four-seam fastball from Chase Shugart and hit his fourth homer of the season.
Top of the ninth Norfolk grabbed their fourth run with Terrin Vavra.
Norfolk Tides will meet the WooSox again Wednesday night for game two of their six-game series at Polar Park.
