The Baltimore Ravens after an AFC Championship appearance found themselves drafting late into round one.
The first round came and went and saw a whole lot of offense. Between six quarterbacks, seven receivers, and eight tackles being selected which all tied or broke the record for most players drafted in the first at those positions.
In total 23 offensive players were selected which broke the previous record of 19 which was set three times (1968, 2004, 2009.)
The Ravens did not go this route and took defensive back Nate Wiggins with the 30th overall selection. Wiggins was the ninth and final defensive player drafted in the first round.
Wiggins joins a cornerback room that has Marion Humphrey and Brandon Stephens returning.
General manager Eric DeCosta called Wiggins “a ridiculous athlete.” Most likely referring to Wiggins 4.28 40 Yard Dash at the NFL Combine.
The Clemson standout now takes his talents to Baltimore to join the Ravens.
