By Tiffany Williams –

On Monday night the umpire for the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings game was Danielle Scott, who in October 2021 became sixth women in the NBA to be an official.

Scott, who attended John Burroughs High School in Burbank, California and later earned a bachelor’s degree in business management with a minor in finance, started her officiating career working games with her mom in a men’s recreational league. She also worked high school games in Southern California and for eight years refereed for the Mid-Eastern Athletic, PacWest and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic conferences.

In 2020, Scott became in an official in the NBA G League and refereed there for four years before the NBA promoted her.

In the NBA, Scott has officiated 42 games in two seasons. She also refereed 26 regular-season games as a non-staff official during the 2020-21 season, and in 2020, Scott worked the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Chicago.

In her free time Scott likes watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Her favorite movie is Love and Basketball and her favorite meal is fettuccine alfredo.
