Ravens Divisional Round Preview

By Tiffany Williams –

The Baltimore Ravens, who finished the regular season 13-4 and are the 2023 AFC North Champions, earned a number one playoff seed and Saturday will host the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round.

Baltimore has made the playoffs 15 times since its 1996 inception (2023, 2022, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2003, 2001 & 2000.).

The Ravens are 11-8 on the road in all-time postseason play, posting the best playoff road winning percentage in the Super Bowl Era since 1966).

Baltimore’s eight playoff road wins since 2008 under head coach John Harbaugh mark the NFL’s most, with Harbs owning the most such victories by a head coach in NFL history.

In 2023, Baltimore became the first team in league history to finish a season ranking number one in points allowed, sacks and takeaways.

Led by All-Pros Kyle Hamilton, Justin Madubuike, Patrick Queen, and Roquan Smith, the Ravens allowed the league’s sixth-fewest yards. Madubuike posted a team-high 13 sacks, while Jadeveon Clowney Kyle Van Noy ranked second and third, respectively, contributing to Baltimore’s single-season franchise-tying 60 QB drops.

On the offensive side of the ball, Baltimore ranked number four in scoring and number six in total yards, averaging an NFL-high 156.5 rushing yards per game.

Lamar Jackson registered the NFL’s fourth best rating, throwing for 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. Jackson added 821 rushing yards and five touchdowns to become the only quarterback in NFL history with multiple seasons reaching the incredible 3,000/800 milestone.

Jackson tallied 4,499 total yards, racking up a career-high 3,678 through the air, to go with a career-best 67.2% completion rate and the NFL’s number four passer rating. He also posted a QB-high 821 rushing yards for a league-best 5.5 yards-per-carry average.

Zay Flowers in the 2023 campaign set rookie franchise marks with 77 catches and 858 receiving yards, adding five receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. Gus Edwards tallied 810 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns to earn the second most in Ravens’ single-season history.

Cambridge, Massachusetts native Isiah Likely, who graduated from Everett High School, in 2023, recorded 411 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.

“They’re hot, they’re playing great, and it’s the playoffs. I’m excited for our fans. Our fans get a chance to be in M&T Bank Stadium and support us,” said Head Coach John Harbaugh. “We know that they’re going to be amazing like they always are.”
