UMass v. Miami
After falling 14-59 last week to Auburn, this week UMass picked up their second straight loss, losing 28-41 to Miami University.
UMass quarterback Carlos Davis was 22-for-32 in the passing game, throwing for 244 yards and three touchdowns.
Navy v. Wagner
After falling 3-42 to Notre Dame last week, this week Navy picked up a 24-0 win against Wagner.
Navy quarterback Tai Lavatai gained 227 yards of total offense, including 161 yards through the air, and one touchdown.
Saturday’s win was Navy’s first shutout since beating Army 34-0 in 2008.
Georgia Southern v. UAB
After picking up a 34-0 win against The Citadel last week, the Eagles this week picked up their second consecutive win, 49-35 against UAB.
Davis Brin threw for 287 yards and completed 38 of 47 passes with two touchdowns and the offense ended the night with 462 yards of total offense (118 rushing and 344 passing).
Marques Watson-Trent led the defense with 14 tackles, including 1.5 for loss. Jackson added 8 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, and two forced fumbles. The Eagle defense tallied nine tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, four pass breakups, and a sack.
UConn v. Georgia State
After winning 42-35 last week in their season opener against URI, this week the Panthers picked up their second consecutive win, 35-14 against UConn.
Brett Buckman was UConn’s leading receiver with 93 yards and one touchdown.
Georgia State won the turnover battle 3-1 after intercepting one pass and recovering two fumbles.
Panthers’ Darren Grainger recorded 142 yards and one touchdown, and also passed for 144 yards on 15 completions with one touchdown pass.
Marcus Carroll recorded 107 yards and three touchdowns to lead the rushing attack.
Howard v. Morehouse
After falling 23-33 last week to Eastern Michigan, this week the Bisons picked up a 65-19 win against Morehouse.
Quinton Williams finished 15 of 24 for 176 yards, two TDs and no interceptions.
Jarret Hunter scored the game’s first two touchdowns for the Bisons. Kasey Hawthorne also recorded two TDs.
Merrimack v. Lehigh
After falling last week 20-42 to the Holy Cross Crusaders, this week Merrimack picked up their second consecutive loss, losing 12-14 to Lehigh.
Boston College v. Holy Cross
After losing to Northern Illinois 24-27 last week, this week the Eagles picked up a 31-28 win against the Crusaders at Meade Stadium.
Thomas Castellanos was 17-of-23 for 204 yards and two touchdown passes. He also rushed 16 times for 69 yards.
Georgia v. Ball State
At Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia the Bulldogs dominated Ball State with a 45-3 win to improve to 2-0. The Bulldogs recorded 386 yards of total offense on 61 plays. Georgia had 287 passing yards and 99 on the ground. In the first half, the Bulldogs had 235 yards of offense on 39 plays in building a 31-0 lead with all the points coming in the 2nd quarter.
QB Carson Beck finished 23-for-30 for 283 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT in three quarters of play.
Dillon Bell’s second carry resulted in a 21-yard TD scamper and a 21-0 edge. Kendall Milton had a rushing TD and Freshman Roderick Robinson had a 12-yard rushing TD.
Georgia scored 21 points off three turnovers.
Georgia Tech v. South Carolina State
After falling 39-34 last week to Louisville, this week the Yellow Jackets were cooking in South Carolina State’s kitchen with a 48-13 win. The win was the 750th win in Georgia Tech football history making Georgia Tech the 21st program in NCAA Division I FBS history to win 750 games and the fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference, joining Clemson, Virginia Tech and Pitt.
QB Haynes King threw four touchdown passes.
Kyle Kennard had an interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery which were career firsts for Kennard.
Jamal Haynes, who moved to running back from wide receiver this fall, ran for 113 yards on 9 carries. Haynes’ 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was the first touchdown of his career.
Trey Cooley scored two touchdowns, Dominick Blaylock has a 3-yard touchdown, and Brett Seither had a touchdown.
New Hampshire v. Central Michigan
After kicking off the season with a 51-17 win last week against Stonehill, this week the Wildcats fell 42-45 to Central Michigan.
Bedford, New Hampshire native Ryan Toscano paced the defense with nine tackles, including a sack.
The Wildcats recorded 538 yards of total offense on 66 plays while Central Michigan ran 71 plays for 438 yards.
Senior running back Dylan Laube recorded a career high 12 receptions for 295 yards with two touchdowns through the air and one on the ground.
Maine v. North Dakota State
After picking up a 12-14 loss last week against Florida International University, this week Maine picked up their second consecutive loss to begin the season. Maine lost 7-44 against North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota.
Rhode Island v. Stony Brook
Coming off a season opener 35-42 loss last week against Georgia State, Friday night the Rams defeated Stony Brook 35-14 in their home opener at Meade Stadium in Kingston, Rhode Island.
The Rams first scoring drive of the game was 11 plays, 82 yards and Kasim Hill connected with Darius Savedge to get URI their first passing touchdown. The point after attempt by Ty Groff was good to put the Rams on top 0-7. Johnny Martin III got Stony Brook into this game with a rushing touchdown and the point after attempt by Spencer Biscoe was good to make this a 7-7 tie game.
Second quarter the Rams first scoring drive was 2 plays, 74 yards and Jaden Griffin grabbeda rushingtouchdown. The point after attempt by Ty Groff was good to put tge Rams on top 7-14. The second scoring drive for the Rams in the second quarter was three plays, 74 yards and Kasim Hill connected with Marquis Buchanan to get his second passing touchdown. The point after attempt by Ty Groff was good to put URI out front 7-21. The Rams then grabbed a touchdown off a fumble recovery with
Jordan Colbert and the point after attempt by Ty Groff was good to put the Rams on top 7-28.
In the fourth quarter, after 7 plays and 59 yards Ja’Den McKenzie had a rushing touchdown and the point after attempt by Ty Groff was good to put the Rams on top 7-35. After 7 plays and 59 yards in the fourth quarter, Casey Case connected with Jayden Cook to get a passing touchdown for Stony Brook. The point after attempt by Spencer Biscoe was good to make it a 14-35 game.
Rams quarterback Kasim Hill passed for 299 yards and threw for two touchdowns without any interceptions.
Running back Jaden Griffin rushed for 48 yards and recorded his first career touchdown.
Wide receiver Marquis Buchanan also had a 70-yard catch for a touchdown. He has caught a touchdown pass in each of his first two career games.
Safety Jordan Colbert recorded the first two takeaways for the Rhode Island defense. He had an interception in the first quarter and a 49-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Assumption v. Southern Connecticut State
In New Haven, Connecticut Saturday afternoon the Assumption University Greyhound had their first meeting of the season with Central Connecticut at Jess Dow Field.
In the first quarter, the Greyhounds first scoring drive was 4 plays, 58 yards and Jake Cady connected with Cameron Reagan to get the touchdown. The point after attempt by Nicholas Chodak was good to put the Greyhounds out front 7-0. The second scoring drive in the first quarter for the Greyhounds was 1 play, 3 yards and Jake Cady recorded his first rushing touchdown of the season. The point after attempt by Nicholas Chodak was good to put the Greyhounds on top 14-0. Southern Connecticut’s first scoring drive was 4 plays, 72 yards and Keith Ridley Jr. connected with Luke Gadson to get a touchdown. The point after attempt by Orlin Lopez was good to make it a 14-7 game.
In the second quarter, Southern Connecticut had the first scoring drive after 5 plays and 82 yards Keith Ridley Jr. connected with Kieran Falzon to record his second passing touchdown of the game. The point after attempt by Orlin Lopez was good to make it a 14-14 tie game. But with 3:16 remaining on the clock in the second quarter, the Greyhounds third scoring drive of the game was 11 plays, 97 yards and Jake Cady found Connor Smith to record his third passing touchdown of the game. The point after attempt by Nicholas Chodak was good to put the Greyhounds back on top, 21-14.
In the second half of the game, Jake Cady recorded his fourth, fifth and sixth passing touchdowns finding Baley Collier, Connor Milks and Keith Mancini to add 21 points for the Greyhounds. Shawn Martin and Kieran Falzon each recorded a rushing touchdown for Southern Connecticut to add 14 points. End of the second half Greyhounds sealed their second straight win to start their season.
Greyhound’s QB Jake Cady went 23-30 through the air for 334 yards, five touchdowns, five in the air, and one on the ground. Lorenzo Valencia had seven total tackles, while Owen Fitzgerald had six, and Dion Kuinlan and Jael Feliz had five.
