After Saturday night’s 117-109 loss to Miami, the Atlanta Hawks (5-4) will travel to Detroit Pistons (2-9) for their first of four regular season games and the Hawks first game of the NBA in-season tournament.
Tuesday night’s game between Atlanta and the Pistons is Atlanta’s tenth game this season and their sixth game on the road.
Tuesday night’s game is the Hawks first-ever “Tournament Night” contest, part of the NBA in-season tournament game. The Hawks will play three of its next three games against Detroit, Philadelphia and Indiana as tournament nights competing in East Group A. In addition to Atlanta, Detroit, Indiana and Philadelphia, the Cleveland Cavaliers are also part of East Group A.
Entering Tuesday night’s game, the Hawks have won four straight games over the Pistons, sweeping the 2022-23 regular season series In those four games, the club averaged 128.3 points on .515 FG% (193-375 FGM), 50.0 rebounds and 27.3 assists … Atlanta’s average margin of victory during the four-game sweep was +19.0 ppg (128.3-109.3).
This season, the Hawks, defensively are tied for fifth in steals per game with 8.89 spg. Bogdan Bogdanovic, Trae Young and Dejounte Murray are ranked in the top-30 in steals per game in the league. Bogdanovic has a career-high 1.56 spg, t13th, Trae Young has a career-high 1.56 spg, t13th while Dejounte Murray has a 1.33 spg, t30th.
In a franchise-best 66 straight games since December 9, 2022, the Hawks have poured in 100-or-more points. The team’s 66-game streak of hitting the century mark is the longest active such streak in the league and tied for the 20th-longest such scoring streak in NBA history with the Cincinnati Royals and the Phoenix Suns.
Dejounte Murray enters Tuesday’s game averaging a career-best 2.6 made triples per game, shooting a career-high .418% from deep and Murray’s .418% mark from the three-point line is the seventh-best in the NBA this season for all players averaging at least 6.0-or-more attempts from three-point territory. Against Miami Saturday night, Murray the recorded 23 points on 9-16 FGM, including 5-9 3FGM, five rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals in 36 minutes.
Trae Young enters Tuesday night’s game tying Bob Cousy for the 15th-most 20-point, 10-assist outings in NBA history. Saturday night against Miami, Young recorded a game-high 27 points and a game-high 11 assists, in addition to two rebounds and one steal in 38 minutes of play. This season, Young is averaging a career-high 1.56 steals per game and is 13th in.NBA, having recorded at least one steal in a career-high tying 10 straight games.
