The Atlanta Falcons kick off their 2023 season against an NFC South rival as they take on the Carolina Panthers. This will be the debut of 2023 NFL Draft #1 overall pick Bryce Young.
For the Falcons, they will see quarterback Desmond Ridder start the season for them. His receivers are former USC Trojans reciever Drake London, who is entering his second season in the NFL, and Mack Hollins. London caught 72 passes for 844 yards and four touchdowns in 2022.
While the Falcons’ receiving core doesn’t look too promising, they will at least have a run game that can set up the pass. Rookie running back Bijon Robinson has been named the starting running back, but fans can expect veteran Cordelle Patterson getting carries, as well.
Ridder will also have tight end Kyle Pitts to throw to, as well. Pitts recorded over 1000 yards in his rookie season, but was limited to just 326 yards in 2022. With the recieving core being so limited, expect Pitts to get many more targets, especially in Week 1.
The game between the Falcons and Panthers will be played at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
