The Atlanta Falcons hosted the Washington Commanders at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA on Sunday afternoon. Atlanta was coming off a 21-19 win over the Houston Texans.
Washington took a 3-0 lead early, but with 2:45 left in the first quarter, Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder found tight end Kyle Pitts for a nine-yard score to make it a 7-3 game after one.
The Commanders scored the next 14 points in the game with them re-taking the lead on a one-yard pass from Sam Howell to Antonio Gibson. A seven-yard touchdown to Curtis Samuel made the score 17-7 with 5:18 left in the half. A 47 yard field goal from Younghoe Koo made it a 17-10 game at halftime.
The lone score of the third quarter was Howell’s third touchdown pass to running back Brian Robinson Jr from 24 yards out. That extended their lead to 24-10.
Ridder would find tight end Jonnu Smith for a two-yard touchdown with 12:38 left, but they missed the two-point conversion and would ultimately fall by that 24-16 final score. Ridder finished the game with three interceptions.
Atlanta will head down to Tampa in Week 7 where they will face their NFC South rival in the Buccaneers. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
