Commanders Week Five Preview

The Washington Commanders after winning two games to begin the regular season have dropped the last two giving them a record of 2-2 through the first four weeks.

Washington will be at against the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football in an attempt to get back over .500. This is the Commanders first of two primetime games during the season. Washington has won their last three Thursday night games and four straight games on Thursday overall.

Chicago comes into Thursday with a record of 0-4 and looking to gain their first win of the season. This is their first time going 0-4 to start the season since 2000. The only worst starts for the Bears are 0-7 which came in 1969 and 1997, and 0-5 which came in 1945.

This is Washington’s first Thursday Night Football game since defeating the Giants in week two of the 2021 season. The Commanders are 2-0 all-time versus the Bears when playing on Thursday. 

Their last Thursday night matchup was last season during week six in Chicago, but the two teams haven’t faced off on Thursday in FedEx Field since week 14 during the 2007 season. This is Chicago’s first time in Washington since 2019.

The Commanders all time are 23-21-1 against the Bears, while being 13-11-1 at home.

Washington goes into Thursday with only one player on the injury report as running back Chris Rodriguez Jr is the only player questionable.

For Chicago wide receiver Chase Claypool, safety Eddie Jackson, and cornerback Jaylon Johnson all will be out. Safety Jaquan Brisker, and tackle Teven Jenkins are both listed as questionable.

The Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears will kickoff at 8:15 PM EST.
