Head Coach Ron Rivera captured his 100th career win as the Commanders made a bit of history.
Washington posted 35 points against their opponents the Denver Broncos which was their most since 2020.
The Commanders also had a 18 point comeback which was their biggest since 1990 as they improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2011.
Washington found themselves down 18 as Denver rookie Jaleel McLaughlin scored a rushing touchdown on his first career carry.
Joey Slye then hit a field goal for the Commanders bringing the score to 7-3.
Russell Wilson then had back to back passing touchdown drives. The first ended in a 60 yard pass to Marvin Mims Jr and the second a 16 yard pass to Brandon Johnson.
Now down 21-3 the Commanders fought back to bring the score closer by halftime. First Logan Thomas caught a touchdown from Sam Howell then Joey Slye hit his second field goal of the game.
This brought the score to 21-14 at halftime and coming out of the half Terry McLaurin caught a 30 yard passing touchdown to tie up the game.
Denver then retook the lead before the end of the third on a Will Lutz field goal.
Down 24-21 Brian Robinson Jr then took over having back to back rushing touchdowns. Robinson Jr also had 87 yards on the ground and 42 yards in the air to go along with those two touchdowns.
Robinson said postgame “Eventually you’ll see the full potential of me.”
After giving Washington the lead Denver made a comeback attempt of their own with Will Lutz hitting a field goal and then Denver successfully completing a Hail Mary attempt to bring the game within two points.
The Broncos two point attempt was unsuccessful giving the Commanders the win which snapped a three game losing streak on the road against Denver.
Washington will travel back home as the take on the Buffalo Bills for week three.
